This evening in Shanghai Ekin attended the 2008 style Fashion Show. Ekin was one of large number of Singers, TV, and movie actors and actresses who lent their glitter to the occasion. The prize for the best style of 2008 was given by Shanda Computer Gaming Company. Ekin graced the catwalk in a grey western style three piece suit. Though it was raining it was not sufficient to deter large numbers of fans waiting to see their idols. Spectators began to gather around 2 or 3 in the afternoon for the 5:30 official start.
Ekin attended a Children's Center Charity Banquet as one of a number of celebrity honored guests. Many of the celebrities attending donated items for an auction designed to raise money for the center. Ekin contributed a camera and printer to the auction, saying that he saw a need and wanted to lend a hand to help the children. He felt that attending this charity event had much significance for him as in the past he had been the host of the Children's Day Program. Ekin said that the years he had spent as the host of this program had been happy ones. Joking with reporters he said that although he had been Young and Dangerous, most people's deepest impression of him was as a Children's program host. He added that if he had the time he would certainly attend such charity events as this one.
Earlier in the week Ekin had indicated that he had already liquidated any investments he had. he indicated that with the market fluctuations he was unlikely to reinvest anything at present. He, however, will continue to watch the market for the most opportune time.
Ekin attended the Unicef Charity Run press conference At Olympic City in his capacity as ambassador for the Children's fund. The charity run aims to raise money to help with the rebuilding in Sichuan Province in the wake of the tragic earthquake there. Ekin was not sure whether he would be able to participate in the run because of an old injury to his foot, which he had recently re-injured. Asked if his girlfriend Yoyo would accompany him on the run, he explained that this was unlikely as Yoyo was not keen on running. Ekin said that he really would like to take part as he feels this charity is very significant, however he would have to ensure he had the capability to complete the 6km run. The run will take place at Hong Kong's Disney Land.
At the event Ekin was asked whether he would be among the first to have a concert when the Coliseum reopens. Ekin has not done anything in the music field for four years. How ever he emphasized that though he was in negotiations with his manager Lam Shan Shan and his music director Chan Guangrong to consider whether to release an album first. He also said that there was a possibility that any one of them would not be available to do this, explaining that next year he will be working on filming Stormriders 3.
Reporters then asked whether he would consider getting married to Yoyo at Disney Hong Kong. Ekin was irritated and scolded them for continuing to ask this kind of question.
Ekin, Walter Chu and Charlie Yeung attended the start of the World Wildlife Fund's Ocean Witness campaign as ambassadors for the Ocean Environment. Together they have made a documentary, to showcase other witness of the Ocean, including Li Kin Wo and Paul Chu. The documentary will be shown on TVB's Jade Channel on November 20 at 11:30 pm. The documentary will follow people involved with the ocean from all walks of life. They will document the changes that they have seen in the Ocean Environment.
The Ocean Witness Campaign is sponsored by Standard Chartered Bank (Hong Kong) Limited. Last year, Standard Chartered Bank launched the Race for a Living Planet globally, under the Greatest Race on Earth Marathon series, to invite the public to commit their own environmental pledges online or via promotional leaflets. The three nations with the most environmental pledges per capita were declared winners. With the support of those who care for the environment of Hong Kong, Hong Kong won the 3rd place of this challenge and a share of the prize money to fund the marine conservation awareness raising campaign—the Ocean Witness Campaign.
Ekin and the CEO of the WWF told the audience, " What we want to achieve with the Ocean Witness Campaign is to let the public understand the changes and the beauty of our oceans, so that we can all join together to protect our precious marine environment and work for sustainable and healthy oceans. I envisage the Campaign will successfully create a strong force supporting marine conservation work in Hong Kong, which is so important for our future.This Ocean Witness Campaign is WWF's attempt to document the direct experiences of people who are witnessing the changes in Hong Kong marine environment. These include higher frequency and longer period of red tides, water pollution, modified coastline, reduced sea area, disappearance of marine species, etc. With this "real life" perspective of how different people see the marine issue, we hope to enhance public awareness of marine conservation, so that we could all join hands together and work for sustainable and healthy oceans."
Ekin said that he hadn't been out on the ocean with Yoyo because she didn't really like the ocean much. However occasionally in a group he is able to go out on the ocean.
Ekin attended the Unicef Charity Run. More than 5,600 people participated at the Disney site, including some of Hong Kong's elite long distance runners. Unicef ambassadors Miriam Yeung and Ekin thanked the sponsors for their support.
Speaking about the current financial crisis, Ekin hoped that major corporations would not lay off their staff, if the business volume has a good achievement then, they simply don't need to lay off people.They should take into account the long term business figures. Regarding actors faced with a freeze on salaries, Ekin felt that if he was asked to freeze his salary then it is frozen. however his contracts only have some dramas which is like having a frozen salary.
Regarding reports that Yoyo had forced Ekin to attend Nick Vujicic's ministry when he came to Hong Kong this week, Ekin immediately pointed out that he had interest in going to the event.
