Tomorrow Hua Yuan Jia will be broadcast for the first time by Guangdong's Pearl TV Station. Ekin and Jordan bring to the television screen an updated version of the 1981 classic TV series to a new generation. The older generation, however, are likely to be much more critical, as they remember the 1981 series. At the recent press conference Ekin said that he had never had any thought of trying to surpass anyone. That this drama is being broadcast on the eve of the Beijing Olympics is no accident. The heroic qualities of Huo Yuan Jia and historic foundation. The screen writer said that it was impossible to ignore Hua Yuan Jia and the Olympic Spirit aspect certainly plays a role. The Martial Arts founded by Hua Yuan Jia have migrated to many countries and already many ethnic Chinese practice wushu.

This morning Ekin and Nikki attended the Salvation Army's starting ceremony, in their capacity of ambassadors, for the Hong Kong to Macau orienteering race. Many of their fans joined the race to get close to their idols. Recently a weekly publication suggested that Ekin spent his 40th birthday alone at home. Ekin laughed and reprimanded them for staying home standing at the gate to watch if any one came in to celebrate. He said that the celebration of this birthday had been the most happy. In fact before the evening of his birthday he had already celebrated with friends including Yoyo. He added that this year is not like years past, as this year didn't have many reporters following him. His birthday wish is to film more movies and sing. He is not currently thinking about marriage.

Yesterday was the 5th anniversary of the death of Roman Tam. To commemorate his death his siblings have collected many of his stage costumes, recording awards and other items he used throughout his career, to make a permanent exhibit. The exhibit is housed at the 予沙田 cultural museum and numbers more than 3,000 items. His two disciples Ekin and Joey both attended the opening of the exhibit. Joey was extremely moved and couldn't help her tears. Ekin recalled his teacher's manner and energetic personality. Roman believed in grasping happines and staying cheery.. Even once he knew he was sick, he tried to maintain his cheery personality.

This afternoon Ekin rushed back from Japan to Shanghai to become the spokes person for the Chinese launch of Rockport Shoes. Rockport is an American Company. Ekin is very busy filming, and though he seldom comes to the mainland for publicity events, but because his current TV drama "Huo Yuan Jia" being broadcast on the mainland is topping the TV charts he attracted many local news media reporters. Ekin said that he didn't take to heart everyone's evaluation of the drama. He has done his best to give a performance for the audience. There has been some criticism that his martial arts is not good enough. In regard to that Ekin explained that he didn't have a martial arts background. Through out the filming he was constantly learning. Even though in the past he had filmed some action scenes in TV dramas, but none of these were as difficult. Everybody knows this character well, so it is inevitable that people would follow the series with interest. Asked to compare the drama with the movie, Ekin said that because this was a TV drama, it is possible to portray the whole life of Huo Yuan Jia. Of course the movie also didn't use the same places. The TV series and the movie both have their merits. In the beginning he had worried whether he suited the role, but he did his best so that the result would be good, so he was fearless of any critics.
Presently Ekin gives the feeling that he seldom has big work plans. He agreed that mostly he is very low key, and doesn't like to say what thing working on, However currently he is in Japan filming He rushed back to take part in this event. Afterwards he will return to continue filming. Ekin said that his current focus is work , and in fact next year he has already fixed three or four movies. In addition he is already in negotiations for another Stormriders movie. However, he added that it was inconvenient to talk to much about his work demands.
Ekin is constantly asked about whether he has marriage plans with Yoyo. He feels that right now his career is his priority, and after that then will plan for marriage. Reporters also constantly ask whether he is happy in his love life. Ekin indicated that it was good, were it not for the fact that all the interest by the media affects our privacy. He feels that society is more complicated, and there is no place that the reporters can't enter, and in addition sometimes adopt some illegal means to get a story and pictures. this makes us very unhappy and we have a feeling of helplessness. He would much prefer people to follow his career with the same interest. Currently he makes not secret of his feelings for Yoyo, privately they will still go to play badminton etc . Reporters of course wanted to know whether Ekin would choose females shoes to take back for Yoyo. Ekin said that the shoes were for men, but if there were female versions then would consider it.
When reporters asked about Yoyo, Ekin smiled and obviously looked happy. When his former girl friend Gigi was mentioned however his demeanor changed and he admonished reporters as going too far. He also indicated that he didn't like to discuss his private life at all. Reporters persisted to discover his perfect woman. Ekin thought a little and then said that his mother was the standard. "She is optimistic, and lives a simple life."
Ekin has not recently had and achievement in the music field. However, though he has constantly been filming he still misses the battle in the music circle. He is preparing to recover this lost territory. He has been spurred on by being asked to be a guest at several concerts last year, suddenly being able to be back on stage singing in chorus. After a long time not standing on a stage this has as allowed him to feel pretty good. He is anxious therefore, to once again enter the music circle. This merely is his own idea, but he must wait it is in his own hands but he must earnestly think it over before making a plan to return to the music industry.
Ekin would like to invest in a family restaurant for the elderly. He said that now many people only say they show concern for the elderly, but this would be a practical action that could be done. I would be a place thy could feel belong to themselves where they could enjoy delicious food.

Yesterday Ekin was in Nanjing to publicize the new edition of Huo Yuan Jia. He purposely rushed to Nanjing to attend the publicity press conference. This was to announce the East China broadcast of the drama.
Ekin still struggles with his mandarin however he reiterated that he didn't care about any critism of his wu shu, as he didn't have a martial arts background. Ekin said that filming took place in Beijing, Shanghai etc. The days were cold and things were frozen, he learned about the biting cold wind.
Ekin on the one hand likes to eat and on the other hand read the script. He is very focused when he is working, but when work is over then can enjoy a leisurely meal.
Ekin admitted his Mandarin was not good, so it was unlikely that he would do a concert on the mainland.
