Recently Ekin filmed a new television advertisement for Canon. The advertisement has an outer space theme. To achieve this Ekin hung in mid air for more than 9 hours for the filming, which will also use a number of computer special effects. The company did find a person to substitute for Ekin for some of the time but finally Ekin refused the help. He said, that as long as the film company made sufficient provisions for safety he believed he would unlikely have any problems, besides he added, during normal filming of difficult scenes he seldom uses a stand-in. He actually enjoyed the sense of accomplishment from doing the scenes himself. He talked about during the advertisement it will seem as if he is flying there and back from space, and in addition he will pretend to sleep.
"Actually in the air I will pretend to sleep, but only two wires balance my body, that was a little difficult, not only because it was high, but also because my hands and feet didn't have any support. In addition the clothing was very difficult to control to make everything look natural. However for the sake of the film we wanted to include an even more difficult action attempt, such as take a camera into the air and then it was my turn to take the picture. The resulting effect is very good."
Ekin has collaborated with Canon for 4 years, he said that between everyone there was and unwritten contract, so that it was a cheerful collaboration. he added that perhaps in the future he might have the chance to carry a camera actually into outer space.

After a number of months of speculation by the media, and denials from both Ekin and Gigi, they both through their manager's, finally announced today that they have indeed mutually agreed to part company. The media is merely waiting now for each of them to say something personally on this issue.
The gossip over this began back in August when Ekin was improperly staked out in his home, that group of journalists were the first to speculate that all was not well between the couple. Many magazines after this continually reported the possible break-up. Following these allegations both Gigi and Ekin were clear that their feelings had not changed. They both even talked about taking a vacation, together with friends over the Christmas Holidays, with Gigi even saying that she would not attend the music award ceremony. Who could have imagined that over this time the couple actually broke up.
Gigi's manager Stephanie confirmed that the break up is indeed fact. She also added that Gigi did not go to Japan with Ekin but traveled to Taiwan for work. Ekin's manager Shan Shan also confirmed the mutual break-up, saying that they would remain friends. However, she added that this issue was private, and reporters would need to ask Ekin himself at the Canon camera activity which he will attend next week.
Ekin and Gigi have been together for more than six years since Gigi intervened in the relationship between Ekin and his former girlfriend Maggie Sui. The price both of them paid for this in terms of career and popular support was high, but even though most have gradually come to accept them as a couple, they have always avoided collaborating with each other, and also having photographs taken together.

The incessant gossip concerning the breakup of Ekin and Gigi gave rise to a number of avoidance measures by them both. Gigi was first to meet the press. She looked visibly tired and upset, but she confirmed the breakup saying it was because feelings had changed, and work for them both is so busy that they seldom had time to be together, but added that they are still friends. Gigi wrote a letter for the media to explain that she and Ekin parted amicably and she hoped that the media would give them space and time.
There is also speculation that Ekin is considering moving away from Sai Kung to Li Shan so as to make a clear break from Gigi.
Some reports indicate that Gigi had worked hard to try to save this relationship, from asking her record company to give her more time to be with family and canceling events to spend time with Ekin. Her intention had been to go to Japan with Ekin, but it seems they argued before he left and so while Ekin went to Japan with his manager and friends, she changed her plans and went to Taiwan with her mother, hoping that each could think about the rift between them. It seems that when Ekin returned he raised the idea of parting company, they talked about it and agreed to peacefully part.
Reports also talk about the fact that Ekin supports Maggie Sui financially, which did not please Gigi, in addition she found it hard to bear the fact that Ekin's career was not as active as her own. She spent many months away from Hong Kong and so she was seldom able to spend time with Ekin.

After the announcement that Ekin and Gigi had indeed parted company, Yesterday was the first time Ekin was seen in public. As the spokesman for Canon he attended a promotional event. In keeping with the outer space theme of the new advertisement Ekin was accompanied by two astronauts. The event served as a ceremony for the first broadcast of the advertisement. His appearance attracted many members of the press to cover the event. Jerry Lam as the master of ceremonies indicated that he and Ekin both knew the media intoxication with the news. He indicated that after the event Ekin would meet with the press an accept an interview.
Usually Ekin likes to play and is always laughing, yesterday however, it was evident that he was both pale and distressed. The media incessantly questioned him about the cause of the break up between himself and Gigi. Ekin however was not willing to much discuss it, he was only willing to say that both sides had agreed to the separation. The media wanted to how he felt about this, He said that he didn't have any frame of mind because everyone already knew this news. He also indicated that the cause of the break up was private, and although he understood that because he is a public figure everyone wanted to know, he was not willing to explain. Reporters went on to ask if they had quarreled before going to Japan. Ekin again said it was not their business, he had made an answer. They asked if he had been in communication with Gigi, he indicated to everyone that they remain friends. He said that many friends and fellow singers had shown concern and passed on short messages, and he hadn't yet had time to reply. Reporters continued to question asking if another person was involved. Ekin said, " These questions are not good. This is the business of two people, Thank you everyone." After this Ekin wanted to leave.
Reporters chased after him wanting to know if Gigi was unhappy about his career He turned and said, " I already answered" They went on asking if they had gone to Japan, Ekin said that this was not significant. Despite further questioning he refused to say more and only shook his head, indicating that this matter was private.
Ekin's manager Lam Shan Shan indicated that Ekin's mood was OK. Before she had already mentally coached him. She also said that next Ekin will be going to Thailand to film a clothing advertisement. In February he will again go to Canada to attend a music competition as the special guest. In April he will again start work on a movie. Reporters asked her about the clamor all over the internet on the issue of Ekin's and Gigi's break up. Shan Shan said that people break up, people divorce, of course there is lots of opinion.

Yesterday Ekin's good friend Jordan Chan accepted a City Radio Interview, because he is about to release a new album. Talk obviously eventually turned to the recent break up between Ekin and Gigi. Jordan was asked if he had gone to see Ekin. He said that Ekin had already told him not to go, because there were so many reporters camped outside his home, Jordan speculated that Ekin must feel apprehensive just going home to eat a meal. Asked about the cause of the break up Jordan just laughed and said that the Hong Kong magazines have the ability to provide the official believe story, whatever they print will certainly be true, these magazines like freedom to explain things, actors are forced to silently endure it. As to Gigi's red eyes and Ekin unwillingly making a statement, Jordan said that Gigi was strong enough, and then went on to describe Ekin's behavior as comparatively simple. When reporters mentioned that one magazine had reported that Gigi denounced him as Ekin's bad influence friend. Jordan was angry. he noted that whenever he met Gigi they have always greeted each other, however with Ekin has only had telephone communication, however if this is true, then it is very rude, and it makes him feel unhappy. Asked if he supported Ekin, he answered " Of Course!"

Most newspapers and magazines and entertainment news this month has related to the break up between Ekin and Gigi. The question now is why they used such a lofty tone in announcing their separation. Perhaps it was because they wanted to do this between work commitments or perhaps as Jordan said they separately are dry inside.
Actually the rumors of their break up circulated for a long time, although they denied it many times the rumors didn't stop. As the couple attended or didn't attend public events at the year end everyone began to follow with interest their career achievements and disparities. The press pursued ferociously trying to find out whether the couples breakup is genuine, the rumors persisted :
Currently the real reason for the break up is still unknown, however Gigi is apparently not able to avoid remaining the accused for injuring Maggie in the past, and now the accusation includes injuring Ekin too. It seems it will be difficult for Gigi to benefit in this situation. Gigi works extremely hard on her career and there are reports that she fights hard to make progress, in particular as the spokesperson for a certain cosmetics company, yet she consistently creates a very different kind of image. Reading between the lines exposes her tendency to ridicule and mock and it seems one will reap what one has sown. There is some speculation that the break up will allow both to build more power for themselves.
For both Gigi and Ekin, together with their managers how they next handle and respond to this will need to be cautious, otherwise at any time it could affect their careers.

In recent days Ekin has said little on the subject of his break up with Gigi. Yesterday he left for Thailand to film a casual clothing advertisement. Reporters pursued him inquiring whether Gigi would move from her Sai Kung residence or whether he was seeing Maggie. To all their inquiries Ekin made no reply. His manager Lam Shan Shan emphasized that Ekin was unlikely to say more on the subject than he already had. She suggested that reporters need not hang around the airport when Ekin returned as he would have nothing further to say. Presently he is giving his full attention to his work, she did how ever divulge that later he would start a new film and prepare a new album.
Early morning at around 6:30 am at Hong kong International Airport Ekin was casually dressed. wearing sunglasses and carrying a backpack. he was accompanied by a male assistant. he didn't seem to have a weary attitude in fact he seemed to be in good spirits. His demeanor was relaxed and he was smiling as he graciously posed for pictures in the airport concourse. He was friendly to reporters even though he refused to answer their questions, saying only "bye bye". However as he was relentlessly pursued he did quicken his step and hurriedly entered the departure lounge.

Since Ekin and Gigi separated Ekin's former girlfriend Maggie Sui has also become the target of the media. At a promotion for her latest new TVB drama she avoided dicussing Ekin. Bowie Lam who worked with Ekin on Always Ready, is also a cast member of the new drama. Bowie charged the media with reading too much into a smile or not smile of people. He also said he had called Ekin but had not managed to connect with him, however, currently he feels he will probably not bother him at this time. He answered media questions regarding Gigi's uhappiness with Ekin's financial and career status. Bowie said that career high or low amount of work, all these things, were in an actor's control. He added that maybe flinging off a partner, after, pehaps better.

Ekin has made a detailed plan as to what he will spend over the Spring Festival holiday period. He said he had allocated 500块 for New Year money for children, in addition he plans to spend 200块 at the flower market to buy fresh flowers. The flowers are to help to help to bring good luck for the New Year. Then he has allocated 200元 to go out with friends to eat, and a further 100元 to buy video games. He laughingly said " after all video games are my favorite."

Today for the beginning of the New Year the BMA boss and Lam Shan Shan invited the artists under the BMA banner, including Ekin, Nikki , Jade Kwan, Grasshopper, Jerry Lam and his wife to share a New Year banquet to wish everyone success and good profits in the Dog Year. Though Ekin recently split with his long time girlfriend, he was in cheerful spirits wishing everyone a Happy new Year. He said he had gone to the flower market, not to buy peach flowers for romance luck but rather to buy flowers for the Spring Festival, he added that this year he will continue to work hard. Nikki said at once that Ekin should make a circuit under the peach tree, then afterwards laughing she said that they only had brother, sister feelings. however she hoped they both still would have romance luck.
