Today is Ekin's 38th birthday. A few days ago he celebrated with his good friend Jordan Chan and his girlfriend Gigi. They went out to eat to celebrate. Jordan said that he would not see Ekin on his actual birthday, because Ekin would be spending the time with Gigi, and so it was unlikely he would be needed. Reporters wanted to know what gift he had given Ekin, suggesting that maybe he would give an adult movie, because of the recent magazine report on Ekin. Jordan laughed and said he could consider it, but he would not divulge what gift he had given. He was also asked if Ekin and Gigi were still seeing each other. He indicated that they were nauseatingly in love and he envied them. He wished them all the best for their future.

October 4th was Ekin's 38th birthday. Hong Kong's Sudden Weekly magazine took pictures of Ekin on the evening before his birthday driving alone to a store make some purchases. The magazine noted that Gigi his girlfriend did not accompany him.

Gigi and Ekin have been together for more than 6 years, however recently the Hong Kong media has unceasingly spread the rumor that their relationship is suffering a decline. They have also linked Ekin to TVB star Linda Cheung saying that during their recent TVB drama collaboration there was some spark between them. These rumors made Gigi somewhat testy with reporters. The magazines point to past arguments they have had, and note that recently Gigi has been seen out with her girlfriends. This causes them to conclude that Ekin and Gigi seem to be be gradually becoming more distant, each living their own lives separately.

Ekin and Gigi's managers however are at great pains to clear up. Ekin's manager Lam Shan Shan explained that Ekin spends his birthday with his family, and just went to the store to make a purchase. In addition, Gigi wasn't even in Hong Kong so it was obvious that she wouldn't be seen.

Ekin also explained to reporters that on his birthday he celebrated with a group of friends including Gigi, but the reason she was not seen the night before was because she was working, and only returned to Hong Kong early in the morning on October 4th.

Gigi said that her record company had been very considerate to let her return from Italy to Hong Kong to celebrate Ekin's birthday with him. She said that she had purchased his gift there, but that it wasn't anything special. She refused to divulge what the gift was. She pointed out that every year friends got together for a meal to celebrate Ekin's birthday.

It seems from this that the media's rumors are unfounded, and Ekin and Gigi have not let them affect them, their feelings for each other still very good.

Yesterday Ekin was in Shatin to attend a Canon Image Perfection promotion event in his capacity as Canon spokesman. There was a game with 10 cardboard Ekin cutouts. Ekin was upset to hear that Zhu Yong Long had been injured in Shenzhen after being attacked by thieves,though he said they were not that familiar with each other. Ekin also appealed to people to be careful, and not to wander alone. He also pointed out that though it would depend on circumstances but money would be a cause for attack by robbers. Doesn't matter if you have strength or kung fu skill, if the robber has a knife it is best not to resist. Jerry Lam as usual was the master of ceremonies, he also spoke about Zhu Yong Long, saying that he is also very cautious, adding that he and Ekin are extremely afraid there, and are unlikely to go out on the street without security. Jerry also said that if he got into a fight and broke his eyeglasses then he wouldn't be able to see.

As the spokesman for Canon camera's Ekin usually carries a camera on his person. It was mentioned that Ni Zhen Zi took naked pictures to give as a gift to his girlfriend. However Ekin said he would not be taking any pictures of his girlfriend, although he appreciated Ni Zhen Zi's interest in such pictures. He was asked what his interest was, but he refused to explain. He said that he would not talk about his feelings for his girlfriend.

Ekin explained that for his birthday earlier this week he celebrated for 5 days. Once with training course classmates, once with Jordan, with family, with good friends and Gigi. He didn't receive gifts, he long since told his friends would rather they use the money to do good. He indicated that Gigi did give a gift but of course He wouldn't say what it was. He also said that they give gifts often, but don't distinguish particular holidays.

Gigi at a separate event for FANCL condemned the Sudden Weekly magazine report saying that it was not accurate, indicating that in fact she on his birthday rushed home, that evening everyone together went to eat. However regarding the continuous reports that feelings between herself and Ekin have changed, Gigi closed her mouth and didn't directly reply saying only that everything was favorable.

Ekin was scheduled to perform on at a TVB Hong Kong singer celebration tomorrow. However he has resigned his performance. The press are saying it is because he wants to avoid any contact with Gigi, and they are no longer together. Shan Shan however denied these reports still saying that they have not parted company. She said that Ekin's decision was because of a work conflict, and in fact he would be in another part of the country tomorrow. She also once again pointed out that she, Gigi and other friends celebrated Ekin's birthday at the beginning of the month. Reading a statement from Ekin, " I don't understand why currently this gossip is so vicious. Thank you everyone who has shown concern, Gigi and I have no problems."

Another publication indicated that Ekin has continued to support the living of Maggie Sui each month since they broke up. The magazine indicated that this made Gigi resentful. Also the gossip concerning Ekin and Linda Cheung is said to have made Gigi jealous, and in fact it is Gigi who initiated the feelings change. Ekin recently has been very angry with reporters unlike his usual good humor, refusing to explain anything further than has already been said. Gigi, likewise, is silent on the issue, refusing to answer reporters. She also told them that because she was attending a Charity Event, these kinds of questions were inappropriate. Both have consistently denied that there is any problem.

The reports also note that Ekin, who usually during his leisure time often goes out to enjoy the ocean, biking or other sports, has seemed to be exclusively at home. Reporters are speculating that he is nursing a broken heart.

Tonight was the Solid Jade Singer celebration program. More than 100 singers took part, including Gigi, Twins and Miriam Yeung. Ekin of course was not present, pulling out of the performance a few days prior to the broadcast. His manager Lam Shan Shan explained that he was elsewhere working . However, his sudden withdrawal has caused the press to believe that he does not want to perform on the same stage as Gigi. When Gigi was asked if Ekin was trying to avoid her, she responded that as far as she knew his absence was work related. Gigi, however, mostly spoke through her assistant and refused to take any interviews. Ekin and Gigi are neighbors, there are reports that Gigi had sold her home and bought another away from Ekin. Gigi, however, said, she had neither sold nor bought a house.

The recent big noise over the rumors of Ekin and Gigi's break up have been further fueled by Ekin's sudden withdrawal from last night's TVB singer celebration. However, yesterday Ekin agreed to a long distance telephone call interview.

Reporter: Have you and Gigi broken up?

Ekin: Already, Have not ! From the beginning to the end I have answered this a lot of times. Do I have to answer until the audience all feel vexed? All have written once about this.

Reporter: But doesn't your resignation from the TVB line up appear as a confession that there is no communication between the two of you?

Ekin: AI! At that time I have the weekly newspaper secret pictures to deal with, I explain that then the idea that it has a high degree of resembling a breakup, but that it is not. So now you ask again. I have always said it is nothing, then it is nothing. My resignation of the performance has nothing to do with this. Gigi knows this. however, not everyone can explain, if try to explain from incomplete knowledge then will run into trouble. Reporter: Aren't the emotional ups and downs so great as to cause doubt?

Ekin: When I see the magazine writing, I already not happy, I agree the pressure on actors is great, the market isn't good, we all hope for publicity to promote our achievements, but press always want replies to personal questions, I feel answered, but still appear, it should not be that the appearance of the press should be detested.

Reporter: You and Gigi have been partners for 6 years, your feelings have not paled?

Ekin: Have not, the consensus of my feelings are all of a favorable nature. I have an optimistic point of view, but this gives many tests to it.

Reporter: Does that fact that many follow this with interest give you pressure, but also benefit.

Ekin: In fact I am already accustomed to outside interest. Almost every year on my birthday there are questions at least once.

Reporter: Today have you communicated with Gigi by telephone?

Ekin: I have, but today is the TVB variety lineup.

Reporter: Is Gigi still your targeted marriage partner?

Ekin: We get along together very well, no problems. A wedding we will gradually plan, because now is the time to work on careers. I understand things are a little vague, but understand my situation.

Ekin's manager Lam Shan Shan also indicated that this incident was nothing and Gigi was also somewhat embarrassed. Shan Shan also felt regret that the press had not shown understanding for Ekin. Recently there has been continuous gossip concerning a speculated change in feelings between Ekin and Gigi. However, separately they have both cleared this up, declaring adamantly that their relationship is unchanged.

Last week Ekin was away from Hong Kong and was unable to participate in the Jade Solid Gold, singer's celebration. Then he was charged with wanting to avoid being on the same stage as Gigi. Their public 6 year partnership is still, as they have both said before, steady and stable.

A few days ago Ekin returned home, almost immediately he met with his manager Lam Shan Shan, the BMA chairman Luo Jia Cheng, his songwriter friend Chen Guangrong, Chen Zhi Qiu and Ruan Shi Sheng at a local hotel, to discuss his next album, concerts and movies, his 2006 plan. The BMA chairman intends next year to set aside funds to make movies and also to promote and produce an album from Ekin. The BMA Chairman gave assurances of the companies support before he left. Reporters asked him as he left what the meeting was about, he said " Work". Ekin and Shan Shan finally left around eleven, Ekin was all smiles.

Gigi the same evening was performing in concert. Her frame of mind was strong. She explained she wanted to study computing to produce a web page. Reporters wondered if she would ask Ekin to help. She indicated that probably not, she would use the computer technical support people.

Since the rumor that Ekin and Gigi had parted company over the last weeks, Ekin once again agreed to talk to reporters. He noted that although Gigi had denied the break up many times they still failed to stop the rumor. His first words were to emphasize that the feelings between himself and his girlfriend are continuously stable. He also said that he never towards this matter will give any big explanations.

He said that this year for his birthday a large number of friends went out to eat. Gigi was on an early flight returning to Hong Kong, both not clear if should meet at the airport, she took a taxi to her home, there we meet. Actually, i should be able with my partner be able to walk in the street, go out to eat, go shopping, or ride bicycles. However over the past years reporters have followed taking pictures. I emphasize I don't want to challenge reporters, also think want to stop giving to everyone pictures. I think should be more like the old ways.

Ekin said that the parting company rumors had both good and bad effects. "Not good is to an originally simple partnership, cause a high degree of focus, and pressure. Good is that for both of us can even more for each other imagine the tolerance."

Additionally, yesterday there was a discussion with a bicycle manufacturer concerning the number of celebrities who were buying expensive bicycles for exercise. Ekin's name was mentioned among others. The bicycle executive said that as a bicyclist Ekin was not a beginner, as he bikes cross country. He noted that mountain biking is not that popular in Hong Kong, but Ekin is already an expert.

The rumor of the break up between Ekin and Gigi, has caused a disturbance all over Hong Kong. Ekin explained that although the fact that everyone was following this with great interest caused a lot of pressure, at the same time it was even more romantic. He said " It resembles the set of a movie, only when the male leading role first understands feelings can the male and female roles understand and share love."

One after another Ekin and Gigi denied the rumors. Then in a Beijing Hotel Gigi encountered a male and female robber in her room, of course she immediately called Ekin, dispelling the rumors as a temporary thing. However earlier Ekin had pulled out of the Jade Solid Gold singer celebration. In fact Gigi had to talk to Ekin's manager Lam Shan Shan to learn the reason for his pull out. It is inevitable that people would think that their communication with each other was insufficient.

Ekin has an older brother and a younger sister, and although he doesn't live with his parents, every week they get together as a family.

Mentally, Ekin's is serious about his work, but he enjoys the process. Several years filmed movies, and although the remuneration was good, he clearly knew he needed to study more. It is always felt that Ekin's career mind was not to strong, especially compared to his current girlfriend Gigi. There still seems to be a disparity. Ekin however disagrees and points out that in fact he has a lot of ambition. His top role was that of Chan Ho Nam, and he hopes he can again film a good movie or drama. Ekin's career has seemed to be tied to his love life. In 1999 he filmed A Man Called Hero and his career was on a high, then he split with current girlfriend Maggie Sui, and soon afterwards dated Gigi. He has been with Gigi for six years now, however his career never really rebounded. He said that the magazines daily wrote about this.

He has collaborated with his manager Lam Shan Shan for many years and recently with her he signed with BMA. Now he is once again poised to reenter the music circle. The music industry is not good and very competitive so it will be hard to have a breakthrough. Ekin said that the entertainment industry has also been difficult. However he has sung before, the last big solo concert was in 1998 when he opened for 8 nights. He knows that he wants to continue to sing, but exactly what type of song he is not yet sure.

Ekin especially wants to thank his parents for their support and tolerance. He explained that initially his father didn't want to enter the entertainment industry. However, whenever saw gossip in the newspaper didn't call for a detailed inquiry, but gave complete freedom. So really it is many thanks to them.

Ekin is always considered to have a happy personality, but he says that in fact he inherited his mother's optimism and his father's pessimism. His career and investments have experienced ups and downs, but he considers this to be a part of life.

Ekin recently bought a million dollar new Range Rover. Also at the same time Ekin's former girlfriend Maggie Sui bought a new car. Coincidently they both bought the same brand of car. The media of course was quick to accuse Ekin of buying the same kind of car because of feelings for Maggie. Although Ekin's car was a much more expensive model than Maggie's.

Gigi was questioned about this charge. She angrily told the media not to talk nonsense. She did say that she had already told Ekin to save money and not buy an expensive car, but she values his opinion and he probably felt that he wanted a comfortable car. She has already ridden in Ekin's new car. The media wanted to know whether she thought the new car was comfortable. She laughed and said, "It is a million dollar car, how could it not be a good ride."
