Even though Ekin has been in the television entertainment industry for twenty years, he has yet to win any TV award category. However Ekin openly acknowledges that for him winning an award is not at all important, he prefers to participate in more unusual projects. He has achieved a prize in the form of cash earninngs, however he smiled saying that perhaps in the future a change is a possibility and maybe there will be an opportunity to win that prize.
For the last six or seven years a drama featuring Ekin has not been seen in Hong Kong. Recently, however, he finished filming a new TV drama Always Ready which began to broadcast on November 21, 2005. Ekin rarely watches TV,but just in time he set up his TV so that he can enjoy watching the drama. Reporters asked him if he had watched the Golden Horse Award Ceremony. He said that he had watched a little, he also indicated that for many years he felt that receiving an award was regarded as the highest achievement, putting earning money into 2nd place. However he now feels that although winning the prize is still the goal of some actors, his own goal is to be satisfied with himself and his own achievements.
" I used to feel that the prize elevated an actors rank, however an actors position in the entertainment market depended more on their acting skills and expertise. But I took the advice of Liu Qing Yun that money really does resemble the prize because it is acting skills that people identify with, rather than the prizes they won.
Although Ekin's background is the TV station, neverthe less he had felt that the TV station had become more and more inferior. However since the filming of Always Ready he has altered his opinion, because during the filming the atmosphere was enthusiastic and everyone's morale was very high.

A few days ago Ekin performed as the special guest at the Miss Ethnic Chinese Pageant held in Vancouver.
However, last night Ekin was in Shanghai to judge the final competition of leisure clothing sponsored by Maoren in his capacity as Maoren spokesperson. Competitors had competed in regional competitions and five finalists were chosen to compete in the Shanghai final.
After the event Ekin was surrounded and graciously accepted interviews from reporters for nearly an hour. They described his Mandarin as not bad although he sometimes had difficulty to understand and sometimes his speech was broken with a small mistake. He needed to have an assistant to help remind him when replying.
Ekin talked about how Hong Kong reporters can take something very small and blow it out of all proportion, everything is not correct. However when reporters wanted to talk about his feelings he closed his mouth and refused to discuss it. However he did mention that he liked the Korean actress Quan Zhi Xian. He said that he had watched her things comparatively more. He is a little familiar with her because his good friend Liu Wei Qiang, is a director who has collaborated with her, and he told Ekin that she was really good. Ekin said she had a good figure and a pretty face,and also that she had a similar background to Gigi. They are similar in look so it is not surprising that Ekin admires her.
Reporters also wanted to know whether with the younger generation of artists becoming very popular, that gave him a lot of pressure. Ekin joked and said that they should ask that question of Andy Lao, and see whether he has a lot of pressure. he went on to say that at the time of Young and Dangerous he had been very popular and considered an idol, but he added that personally he is not like that, and in fact his biggest challenge has been to go from being an idol to become an artiste, He added that he hopes to produce a new song next year.
Ekin is an "enjoy life while you can" person. He said he was not afraid of ridicule by others, saying that all he asked for was a breakthrough in his work. He believes that the only equipment you need is yourself, if that is first then no matter what you encounter, a new challenge, a new responsibility then you can be " Always Ready" .
Reporters went back to the days of Young and Dangerous and observed that since that time his hair had always been long, yet now was short. Ekin said that because of his current drama he needed to cut his hair to play a member of the Hong Kong Government Flying Service team. This drama was the first of its kind and has a fresh feeling. However the filming was both difficult and dangerous. Ekin said it is about what a person dares to film. Not everyone has the courage to hang up high, even he sometimes needed a brave word or thought if the role became difficult. He said that in during the past 10 years a drama like this had not appeared.
It seems like Ekin didn't listen to the reports of him losing his temper because every time you see him he can always bring up a smile. He often gives the impression that he is not career minded but he openly admits that this year his work has been successful. He feels that it is most important to reach your own goals and again has been able to do the kind of work he likes. In August he collaborated with a radio station to perform the stage drama "Yakabi and the gunshot incident" and also filmed the TVB drama "Always Ready". Ekin said that performing in a stage drama i s not the same as filming a scene. The stage drama has a high degree of difficulty and hard work. A lot of people line up to practice. Filming a drama the process is much more relaxed.
Ekin is considered by his friends to be Always Ready. If any of then are unhappy, he immediately does his best to help to solve things. He feels a great deal of responsibility to his family, friends and girlfriend. He was asked if he was afraid now to make a commitment after he had said he would take care of his former girlfriend Maggie Sui all his life. Ekin denied he was afraid, he said if as partners make plans then will talk about it. Recently there had been gossip that he was involved with Always Ready co star Linda Cheung, Ekin said merely that it was work for publicizing the drama and that reporters ought not to keep returning to this.
Reporters went on to his love of playing video games. Never at a loss for words Ekin indicated that anytime playing happily was first for him. He was asked whether he was concerned that others might think he was too greedy to play or lazy. Ekin was incredulous " Lazy... do you know how difficult it is to be lazy, and again you make much..working I only want a breakthrough, I join a drama, a musical, both feel special. Ekin also divulged that will have a breakthrough in 2006, but he was purposely mysterious, not willing to say more.

Yesterday, Ekin, Nikki and Chen Bao Zhu attended the Harbor City Leukemia Charity Christmas Tree lighting ceremony. More than 1,000 children helped to decorate the the tree, raising in excess of $50,000 HK. The charity ambassadors, Chen Bao Zhu, Ekin and Nikki all wrote their heart's wish on a silver card to hang on the tree. All of them, by a surprising coincidence, wished for world peace. Ekin said that whenever, in the past, he has wished for world peace, other people will say that it is only my old ways, but currently, with terror attacks, and natural and social disasters achieving world peace will not be easy.
Ekin went on to speak of the recent weekly publication that indicated that the viewing numbers for the new TVB drama had some discrepancies, and in addition that Ekin's girlfriend Gigi's new album sales were not good. Ekin smiled and indicated that he hadn't really seen the report, but added that if he really was not valued then it was unlikely the magazine would come looking for him to be in the cover, however it is right away can I sell the magazine, but they still shouldn't depend on me otherwise their boss will know they didn't do their homework. These reporters should relax a little, there is much more good things with society public service.
Before Christmas Ekin will go to Japan to film an advertisement, then during christmas he plans with his girlfriend and a number of friends to go on vacation. he was asked whether his girlfriend then would not attend the music circle award ceremony, he answered that his girlfriend should want to rest a little, however currently she is still in a position that it is unknown whether she can or not travel.

Yesterday Ekin in his capacity as ambassador for the Neighborhood Association, attended a charity walk event. Ekin said he felt that when an actor has extra time one should give back to the community, and undertake charity work.
He indicated that over Christmas he will be in Japan to film an advertisement for a brand new product, however he was not a liberty to discuss it. he said that he only just got the news and he was very excited.
Ekin has been in the entertainment industry for 20 years, the grand total of his box office receipts add up to 5th highest of the male leading roles. Ekin was very happy. Recently though, Ekin returned to film a TVB drama, he said that though subject matter was a risk, it has turned out well.
He said he would return home in the new year, as after his work he intends with his girlfriend and other friends to take a vacation.

Last night Ekin attended an award ceremony where he received an award for the being within the top 10 box office male leading stars. Gigi also attended for the actress award. However neither of them were willing to allow a photograph of them together. In fact Ekin waited until Gigi left the scene before agreeing to an interview. Ekin was ranked 5th in the top 5 male actors. His personal box office grand total is 531,195,974. He indicated that he has been filming 10 years and this result is not bad. He laughed and said that if this number was his own personal wealth then it would be good. Reporters wanted to know whether he would celebrate this award with Gigi. Ekin laughed again and said that at this time hadn't carved out time to celebrate, but it only is didn't yet think how to celebrate.
Reporters asked him how he felt that the viewing numbers for Always Ready were a little down. Ekin said you can't say it is the best but then it isn't the worst either.

Jordan Chan recently has been the master of ceremonies for Road Show. Yesterday he invited his good friends Ekin and Ying Cai Er to be his guests. They discussed unforgettable experiences and interests. Jordan said that everyone had known each other for a long time but have no place for discussion. Because Jordan and Ekin collaborated in the Young and Dangerous series they have been friends for more than ten years. Ekin described their relationship like two women or girlfriends, everyone possesses very many common areas, he added that honestly to maintain this friendship so far also feels very strange, as sometimes between meeting is a long gap. Ekin though laughed and suggested that Jordan already had a secret girlfriend.
