Ekin talked to Mingpao Magazine. Ekin finishes his contract with EEG soon. Already three other companies are interested to have him make a record. Ekin was asked if he will leave EEG when his contract is over. Ekin diplomatically said that there were no absolutes in life.

Ekin also said that the two careers of singer and actor are very close together. Music and movies go hand in hand so that when one is not so good then the other will suffer also. When people are liking your movies then chances are they will also like your music.

Ekin explained that when you have a low point in your career you have time to take stock of where you are and become more relaxed about things. In the last year there was not so much work. I had time to reflect on the direction I want to take.

When I made "Women from Mars" I am worried about the poor ticket sales, but the second movie "My Wife is 18" I am more relaxed. The movie went well and this was a good change for me. Now many directors ask me to do their movies. I feel relaxed and comfortable with the role in my next movie "Twins Effect". This role is very different from the last two movies.

At the end of last year I was at a low point in my career, now things are better and I appreciate it very much. This year I will have much work. Already I have good movies and also a contract with TVB. I hope to make an album later this year.

All actors have high and low points in their careers. Today Ekin is very busy and has many contracts. He is moving upward to a high point.

Yesterday Ekin attended a ceremony in Shanghai together with the directors and cast for the movie "My Dream Girl". At this time they also show clothes fron a famous clothing company. Reporters asked Ekin if he had misgivings about taking part in the companies collaboration. Ekin answered by saying that it is difficult to predict and manage a good appearance without opposing working together.

Fortunately the producer stepped out to help out and save further embarrassement. He said that the movie company and the clothing company have a participating interest.

Afterwards Ekin was asked if had been embarrassed by the question.

He said, " Of course, I didn't know how to answer well because I don't know the interest that was between the movie company and the clothing company. It was good that the boss substituted me and helped out.
Ekin will stay in Shanghai for much of March to shoot the pieces of the movie that require this location. He was asked whether he would attend Gigi's concert in Hong Kong.

Ekin told reporters "We agreed I would not attend the concert as I would be working, but I hope that I can find time between my commitments to return to Hong Kong and surprise her."

Today in Shanghai Ekin and Vicki took part in a ceremony for luck while filming "My Dream Girl" and also to honor the contributions of the actors and the director to the movie

Yesterday filming began and they shot some of the first scenes in a fine tall house near the sea. Ekin also met privately with a company about renting an apartment while he is filming but when he knows how much it will cost he declined.

Ekin was asked how he feels about working to correct and fix a girlfriend. He said that in a relationship it is important that both people get along and only the person can change themselves. He feels that independence belongs to the whole person and so he opposes this prescription.

He was asked if he thought Gigi was an ideal girlfriend?

Ekin laughed and said he would be unable to contribute as an assistant for any changes to a girlfriend.

Ekin always smiles and speaks very naturally, in a few words he is able to express himself perfectly.

Ekin is currently shooting the movie "My Dream Girl" in Shanghai. Although he is busy and has to spend much time working he still finds some free time to sightsee in Shanghai. Recently the director treated the cast to an 8 course dinner in a local well known restaurant.

Ekin liked the food very much and ate a lot. He particularly liked the melon in juice. Because Gigi could not be with him on this trip he took a picture of the banquet with his Canon digital camera so that he could share it with her later.

Ekin said he remembers the last time he came to Shanghai. It was many years ago and he was with his sifu Roman Tam. He said that they came at New Year and they shared a New Year dinner with a Shanghainese family who were friends of Roman.

Ekin has been in Shanghai since March 1st filming pieces of his latest movie My Dream Girl. The most recent scenes involve Ekin taking Vicky Zhao to the best high class hair salons in order to design an unforgettable hairstyle.

They also used an instrument to test the skin. In the middle of the scene Vicky decided to act as the image designer for Ekin and she played with the skin test instrument. They both fooled around with the skin instrument. The results were that Ekin has much more hair on his skin than Vicky. Ekin was not praising his specialist image designer, who thought it was very funny.

March 12, 2003

This evening after filming was complete the cast gathered to celebrate the director's birthday. Everyone dressed very casually and then they delayed so they could conspire to surprise the director and have a big laugh. At exactly 11pm they arranged a camera and Vicky brought out the birthday cake. Ekin gave a designed new person (Barbie) to the director. Then they sang Happy Birthday in Cantonese.

The director was very happy and took group pictures of everyone. He hopes that the movie will shoot smoothly.

Later the same evening a secret guest appeared. Shu Qi was in Shanghai for a promotion event. She knew about the birthday surprise and came to congratulate the director.

Today Ekin was in Shanghai for a Tag Heurer promotion. More that a hundred fans were there to see him. The reaction of the fans was very enthusiastic. One fan charged forward and hugged him and could not let him go. Ekin was deeply touched at the enthusiasm of his fans.

Ekin is currently working on the romantic comedy "My Dream Girl" in Shanghai, and so was unable to attend Gigi's concert in Hong Kong. He did, however, make a long distance telephone call to give her support. When he heard about her performance dressed up to model him in 'A Man called Hero' he said laughing.

" I am stalked, all think the original performed the song. Uproar! The wig was very fake. The tribute was unfortunate. This is the first time she held a concert and didn't wear something sexy."

Last night Ekin returned to Hong Kong. Reporters asked him if he was returning to celebrate Gigi's up coming birthday. Ekin denied that was the reason, saying merely that the filming of the part of movie in Shanghai had finished. Reporters asked him what celebration activity they had planned.

Ekin laughed and said, " Everybody wants to know, but we have made no plans yet."

Today Ekin attended a publicity event for Canon Digital Cameras. Ekin renewed his contract to be the spokesperson for Canon for another year. Shan Shan said that the renumeration was good and would be for both appearances and posters.

During the event Ekin spoke with reporters. They pressed him about Gigi's birthday plans.

He said that this evening they would go to the ocean and catch fish, then they would eat the fish to celebrate.

Reporter's continued to want to talk about his relationship with Gigi. They asked if he had taken the chance to buy her a diamond and propose marriage.

Ekin said, " This is not worthy of comment. Right now is not an appropriate time to get married. When I decide it is the time to get married I will tell everyone so you need not worry."

Reporters pressed on whether the gift for Gigi would be a diamond or maybe a Canon camera.

Ekin said," A diamond is a symbol of eternity and right now I have nothing permanent. At present we have to fight infectious disease, and so now life is the gift that is most important. I need not give Gigi a camera because she is a separate camera spokesperson."
