Ekin: Hello, everybody.

Ekin: I know many of my friends are online at this moment. I didn’t know that we will be chatting online this evening. So good evening to all of you.

user: What is your next work plan, both in music and film?

Ekin: Hopefully I can start recording the album in September. In the next half year I will continue doing the films. The next movie that is going to be released is Heroic Duo.

user: Ekin, I like Chan Ho Nam in Young & Dangerous very much. Will you play that role again if you are given the chance?

Ekin: HK will not film that kind of movies in the short period of time. You may watch My Dream Girl.

user: Ekin, what are the differences between My Wife is 18 and My Dream Girl?

user: Ekin, you have filmed two comedies. Will you continue with this course?

Ekin: I played too many heroes, so I want a change. Actors should not always play the same type of roles. I want to try many different roles; they may not be comedies, may be other types.

user: Ekin and Vicky, what do you think of each other after cooperation in My Dream Girl?

Vicky: Ekin made a good impression on me. Though he used to play the triad member, he is very upright in real life. But he was very naughty on set and often made jokes on my shortcomings.

Ekin: Don’t you think she looks better now? Her complexion is nicer and she is thinner and more energetic.

Ekin: The first movie in which we co-starred is The Duel. At that time she was as lively as a child. Now I feel that she changed; she has grown up and became more mature and melancholy, maybe because she has gone through many things.

user: Ekin, have you ever thought of playing negative roles?

Ekin: I used to, like the one in Legend of Speed. If someone wants me, I would like to try. I wish to play Wind in Storm Riders II; this role turns bad in the end.

user: Do you like surfing net? What do you do on the net?

Ekin: I often search for new inventions, as I can buy many things on the net that I can not obtain in Hong Kong.

user: Ekin, what do you feel about Gillian? Who do you like more, Charlene or Gillian?

Ekin: I am more familiar with Charlene. She is very clever and represents the new generation of HK actors. She has a different way of acting, so I also learned from her.

DJ: Ekin, what is your wish in the present?

Ekin: I wish to maintain my present way of life. I am very contented now that I have my work to do and my own time to do the things I love.

Ekin: We haven’t thought about marriage, as we both have our jobs and goals to achieve. We are very happy now.

user: How do you strike a balance between work and love?

Ekin: This is a matter of arrangement of time. It’s best if I put part of my time in work and part of my time in love. Actually being busy is also good, as not seeing often is a good test.

user: Ekin, when will you come to Beijing to hold a concert? I am craving for that.

Vicky: Tonight! Live show on net. Start! (laugh)

Ekin: I’ve some problems in recording new albums, so I may plan for that next year only. Most of my songs are Cantonese. I want to hold a concert here after I can sing better in Mandarin.

user: You both had a hard time filming My Dream Girl. How did you relax after work?

Ekin: Joke often.

DJ: Vicky, can you give us examples of Ekin’s classic jokes?

Vicky: He had too many classic jokes every day that I can not think of any now.

user: What kind of sports do you like?

Ekin: Swimming in the sea as I love sunlight.

user: Ekin, out of so many movies that you have filmed, which one do you like most?

Ekin: My Dream Girl of course as it’s going to be released. But previously Feel 100%, during the shooting of which I was very happy working with other actors.

user: Who is your best friend in the entertainment circle?

Ekin: Jordan Chen. But we don’t contact each other very often. I know what is happening to him. Our relationship is a bit odd.

Vicky: My best friend should be Ekin Cheng.

DJ: It’s very cunning of you to say that.

Vicky: He is too excited; he never expected me to say that.

DJ: Gigi Leung may not be happy to hear you say that.

user: Which cities will you be going to promote My Dream Girl?

Ekin: Beijing, Shanghai, Chengdu, Guangzhou and Hong Kong.

user: Ekin, what do you think of your own performance in My Dream Girl? How many marks will you give yourself? What do you think of Vick’s performance? What are the differences between Vicky Zhao and other female stars who used to work with you?

Ekin: I give myself 80 marks. I’ve tried my best. Mainland China actors are very different from HK actors. They are more professional as they learn performing skills in schools; whereas HK actors depend more on talents. When we film in China, we have plans how to do every scene; whereas in HK it’s changing every day. The different experiences can complement each other, which is a good thing.

user: Ekin, how do you deal with the setbacks and difficulties that you encounter in life?

Ekin: I’ve been through many setbacks and my career had peaks and valleys. What’s very important is be optimistic. Talk to other people, about good things and bad things. Bad things may turn good things in the end and may be good experiences to you.

DJ: Ekin, have you seen Vicky’s cool and sensible side?

Ekin; Yes. I feel that she is like my good friend Jordan Chen. She may be very happy today but sad tomorrow, but nobody knows why. I think most actors are moody and they need to change their mood very quickly if the script requires.

user: What is the most unforgettable thing during the shooting?

Ekin: I talked Mandarin in the film. What was sad was that during the shooting, SARS started in Hong Kong.

user: Ekin, I love your action movies very much, such as Running Out of Time II.

Ekin: Filming action movies is a hard thing. But later I slowly got used to it and even came to like it. But now it’s not popular in HK. I hope that the whole world will watch my action movies if one day it becomes popular again.

user: Ekin, what do you think of Vicky’s big eyes?

Ekin: Big eyes have good side and bad side. They may be lovely if she sleeps well, but may look very tired if she doesn’t sleep well. Her eyes were very bright this afternoon, but now they are dimmed.

user: Ekin, I like Chan Ho Nam very much. Was the tattoo real?

Ekin: No. If you think I acted well in those triad movies, that’s because I myself felt like I was a real gangster. But if you watch my recent movies, you’ll know that they are a far departure from the triad roles.

user: Ekin, what do you think of your new hair style? I am not very used to it yet.

Ekin: I like long hair, but I am an actor and therefore can not maintain the same image for ever. Long hair is certainly nicer but short hair also has its own credit, it helps in my acting.

user: Ekin, what kind of girl is a beauty in your eyes?

Ekin: Kind-hearted girls. If the girl is very beautiful but later you find that she doesn’t have a kind heart, then the outward beauty is useless.

DJ: What kind of personalities do you like to find in girls?

Ekin: Optimistic girls.

user: My Dream Girl will encounter fierce competition from other big movies. Do you have the confidence of winning?

Ekin: As an actor, I’ll do my best in the movies. Whether they sell well is beyond my control. I don’t care about the ticket sales as long as I’ve done my best. What’s more important is that the director regards you as a good actor. But of course I’ll be happy if my movies sell.

user: Ekin, have you ever thought of tapping the international film industry?

Ekin: Yes. But whether they want you is another issue. I think the only way to become an international star for a HK actor is to film an action movie. Maybe one day, foreigners will love my action movies, but of course I need to practice more.
